The first members, at the association creation in 1994, wanted to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of this event (Apollo 11 mission). The "Apollo 25" event was then organized, which principal objective was the creation of the exhibition "The Apollo Odyssey", presented in the medieval City of Carcassone (France).
This exhibition received around 4500 visitors between may and june 1994, 1700 of whom being students of colleges (53 classrooms), who followed three guides belonging to the association.

We have then decided to keep "Apollo 25" for the name of the association, in memorial of the first event we organized, and corresponding to the anniversary of the most outstanding action of mankind.

2- VOCATION

The Association Apollo 25 's goal is the conception, the organization, and the realization of some events (lectures, meetings, workshops, exhibitions,...) around the theme of the space exploration.
Through its actions, its objective is to introduce and teach to the general public, and in particular the young people, the history and the future of manned activities in space.

The association also provides a preferate place for meetings and exchanges between people passionatly fond of space exploration.
We are interested in both past and future missions, of any nationality, and on any different aspects: science, technics, human beings, history, philosophy, spirituality, arts, litterature, cooking....

Because each approach is as full of instructions than of emotion.

We still live in the "Space Pioneers Era": a wonderful human adventure just begins, that we are lucky to witness. We must not remain insensitive to this, we must not miss this fundamental episode of mankind history.....

The aim of Apollo 25 is just to inform, and to raise up among a large public an interest for all the events related with this space adventure.

3- ACTIONS

L'ASTRONAUTE
L'Astronaute is the touch-bulletin
of the association Apollo 25.
It is also plenty of news,
and an exclusive article!

THE APOLLO ODYSSEY

The Apollo Odyssey is an itinerant photographs exhibition, realized by the association Apollo 25 at its creation.

Unforgettable landscapes, moonwalks,... and many pannels going deeper in the technical aspects of the Apollo missions. A fantastic epic, for eyes feast and mind satiety!

SCALE MODELS

At its origin, the "Apollo Odyssey" exhibition provided as well an exclusive scale model (1/50), especially made for the association, of the Apollo 11 Lunar Module at its moonlanding site. This model has been lent to the Cité de l'Espace (space museum) in Toulouse (France) and displayed at the occasion of the temporal exhibition "la Cité décroche la Lune".
The association has also been implied as an advisor for the conception of a full-size model of the lunar surface, for the same temporal exhibition.

LECTURES FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC

The association Apollo 25 has reached up to 2000 persons since 1994, through its lectures for the "general public", which means easy to understand at any age and any degree of knowledge.
These lectures concern for the moment:

  • the exploration of the Moon
  • Spoutnik
  • the lunar geology

Apollo 25 also organized a great meeting/conference evening for the general public in December 1998, with the NASA astronaut John Young, the NASA scientist Dr Carlton Allen, and the french journalist Jean-Pierre Chapel. This evening meeting's topic was: "The Lunar exploration: from the first steps to the XXIst century missions."

The association wishes to go on with this activity, and to imply new lecturers and to enlarge the lectures topics.

  • WORKSHOPS
The association Apollo 25 organized during December 1998 some pedagogic workshops for scientific animators and teachers. These workshops were chaired by a NASA scientist, Jaclyn Allen, and dealt about educational hand-activities related with planetary sciences.
